Conversations during the call
00:31:22 Priya Patel: Hi Everyone! Have to hop off, but thank you Ada for leading the call! Looking forward to watching the recording. Thanks everyone!
00:45:04 Dana Wakeley: I wonder if you can discuss your feeling with a peer that your trust or your manaher first? Someone that also knows your Director or VP and has a sense of what they may respond to best? Delivering feedback is tough & definitely a form of confrontation!
00:46:29 Hannah Webb: Yeah agreed, maybe someone that is their level so it’s peer to peer rather than seen as a complaint from staff?
00:48:03 Hannah Webb: Have you talked to people since Covid-19 has hit? I find in this space on comms and employee engagement, it’s getting way more recognition and business case now that people are remote
00:51:55 Hannah Webb: If you need some more general stats, there’s a company that I work with called Poppulo that does internal comms and they might have some white papers that could support your argument for better comms
00:51:57 Dana Wakeley: Another thought! Brainstorm… How can you hold them accountable? Can you set up follow-up meetings and/or next steps after each convo?
00:53:52 Dana Wakeley: Even if the action items are: by next meeting I will reflect on x thing or do x research or have x conversation with x person etc 🙂
00:58:29 Kait Edwards: Something I can relate to that I’m hearing is that you’re one of the only ones who brings up issues, even though you have support and people may be thanking you for speaking up.
00:58:39 Kait Edwards: I’ve felt like — is it easier for higher ups to ignore if it’s just one person
01:06:04 Dana Wakeley: Can you form communities/support within the organization that are generally a place to support eachother? Establishing these long-term safe spaces could be helpful as you navigate current and future issues
01:06:31 Dana Wakeley: *support groups. We have a few at my company
01:06:52 Kait Edwards: I love that idea. Was also going to say… could you convince your dept to send out an anonymous survey
01:07:24 Geena Wakeley: We had an “anytime feedback” form at my last company that worked pretty well!
01:11:27 Kait Edwards: Yes anytime feedback!
