Comments from the Call ?
00:06:14 Kait Buck: I have a call at 2
00:06:19 Jana Castelli: 2:00
00:06:49 Jana Castelli: Okay, thanks <3
00:10:28 Jana Castelli: Feels like the Ego.,,
00:10:55 Jana Castelli: …..the ego that feels it will die if we grow…
00:12:02 Emily Rose Prats: i read this article about procrastination earlier this year, and it was really helpful: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/25/smarter-living/why-you-procrastinate-it-has-nothing-to-do-with-self-control.html
00:12:20 Emily Rose Prats: tl;dr – procrastination is a lot to do w emotional regulation and anxiety
00:15:57 Dana.Wakeley: I relate sooo much to all of this Kait!
00:17:58 Emily Rose Prats: a version of that helps me: sometimes it’s hard for me to start a book, but once i do it, i love it! so the next time i am having trouble, i actively think back to how much i enjoyed that last book and then associate that feeling w this new book i’m having trouble starting
00:20:41 Jill’s Iphone: I’m dying laughing over here with the child meltdown analogy
00:29:33 geenawakeley: resonate so much with feeling I need to being constantly available, sometimes I take it as an escape route if my brain is being fussy and I’m having trouble focusing on a level 3 task
00:30:55 Jana Castelli: A good way to think about it, I think, is: Take things away rather than add….
00:31:56 Kait Buck: @Geena same! I’m like “oh I can’t focus on this because I need to be on Slack in case someone needs me.”
00:32:45 Jana Castelli: Emily Rose, I like your example about starting a book…
00:33:26 Dana.Wakeley: I feel like I have the luxury a lot of the time b/c of the nature of my team/my work to ask people to send me an email when they IM me but I know that isn’t the reality for majority of the people in my workplace
00:33:31 Emily Rose Prats: also, i think it feels important to be needed and important to be “in the loop.” for me i sometimes need to recognize that FOMO is what’s causing me to put off doing a project that requires me to disengage
00:33:34 Kait Buck: @Ada one thing I started doing is that I blocked off the first 2 hours of my day because I know I focus better personally first thing in the morning. It took a bit for me to stick to those blocks, but I finally did.
00:33:42 Kait Buck: @Emily Rose YASSSSS
00:38:07 Emily Rose Prats: do you like that mentoring part of your job?
00:50:58 Ada Chen: @Emiyl Rose – ugh, yes! being in the loop also makes me feel needed, but then I get overwhelmed and it just sucks.
00:51:25 Ada Chen: Also – no I don’t like the mentoring part because it’s called mentoring, but it’s actually pseudo managing without the recognition (personal trigger for me) or $
00:52:11 Kait Buck: Brb guys – bathroom break!
00:54:56 Emily Rose Prats: jill! your long list of solutions mirrors your initial question of starting on 5 different things at a time!
00:59:19 Emily Rose Prats: jill—i started telling people when they ask “what’s your biggest motivator” that my biggest motivator is RAGE. being angry or frustrated gets me way more fired up than being happy
01:02:49 Kait Buck: Thanks for the great convo, ladies! Talk to you later!
01:05:08 Jana Castelli: Bye Everyone! Loved this! See you soon! <3
01:09:21 Ada Chen: ugh I relate to feeling like being a bother so much <3
01:17:59 Jill’s Iphone: omg I totally hear what you’re saying. all of the emails and correspondence drive me nuts and I feel a need to clean out which then creates guilt that I might be missing something
01:33:06 geenawakeley: I got to sign off, but great call convo today and thank you for sharing!
01:33:09 Ada Chen: I have to jump to a meeting – thank you everyone, ❤️❤️❤️
01:33:24 Jill’s Iphone: I have to drop off thanks everyone!
01:33:51 laurenrichardson: I have to go too. Bye everyone! This was such a great discussion!!
01:34:28 Dana.Wakeley: I have to sign off as well. Thank you everyone for sharing. <3
